Zeke is the kind of man most women wish for. A quiet strong protective type. This book is one of my "keepers" The end became somewhat predictable but it is advertised as a romantic read not a tragedy so you know going in that it will have a happy ending and it does. They are on the run, make their stand and fall in love in the process
This was a old-fashioned kind of story of the girl in trouble and the bad boy who could save her. But so well written by Samuel.
Breaking The Rules is a romantic suspense book written by author Barbara Samuel. It has interesting characters and a good storyline.
I read this through in one sitting, especially appreciating the time the author took to actually develop the characters' back stories. I was able to understand and empathize with them, and just enjoyed the story.

There was a lot of sexual tension throughout the book, which was finally consummated, but I didn't think the book read like porn. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about. In terms of a romance novel, it was pretty tame in my opinion. I also didn't find the few editing errors a distraction as in so many other version books.

I'll be looking for other stories by this author.
A very sweet story. Two people with broken lives behind them come together as Zeke saves Mattie from her ex that wants to kill her. Together, they find love in a mountain peacefulness.
Mattie is a waitress working in a small town in Arizona. She is on the run from her fiancé after witnessing him murder three men and now he will not stop until the only witness is dead too. Zeke is the sexy bad boy motorcycle guy that is sure he has seen "Mary" before and is sure she is in trouble and on the run. He needs to follow his rules and leave well enough alone, but he can't.
I'vee been in that country, Oak Creek Canyon and southern Colorado. The way she writes put me right back there. Which is a Good Thing. The gentle gradual unveiling of their fears and troubled pasts as Mattie and Zeke edge warily into each others' spaces is so well done, and so very sensual. My husband and I have known for years about the allure of riding the bike with "boobs in your back." Yep. Keeper.
