Catch a Falling Star A Novel Beth K Vogt 9781451660272 Books

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! From the minute I started reading this book, I knew I was going to love it! This book was FANTASTIC. There were so many little things I could relate to. Dr. Kendall Haynes is a 36 year old single family practice doctor who lives in Colorado Springs CO. She has a great group of friends, most of whom are either married or soon to be and she is the only one who is single. She has a dog named Sully! See what you think when you first learn his name and then see if you were right in the meaning behind it as I was!! She meets a young boy named Ian and his older brother Griffin, who in her mind, is a piece of work. Kendall has such a big heart and truly cares for others and of course the well being of her patients. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every second of this book and I will be reading more books by Beth Vogt for sure. I can't say in words how much I loved this book, it is most certainly a keeper!! You should definitely read this!

Catch a Falling Star A Novel Beth K Vogt 9781451660272 Books Reviews

I love how Dr. Kendall Hayne’s thinks she has it all. She is very sure of herself on the outside, exudes supreme confidence. Yet, on the inside she is cracking. Griffin Walker’s life is a mess for almost the entire book. Things seem to get worse and worse for him, especially because he has a very hard time accepting others help. I adored the way the author weaved in the setting of Colorado Springs. I felt like I could see the mountainous views the characters enjoyed. If you haven’t read it yet, buy it now!
Beth Vogt is a consummate story-teller. I lost myself in her characters, the setting and the story. Kendall's issues with her mom really hit home and I fell in love with Griffin, the hero. Even Kendall's receptionist, Evie, and her adopted son, Javan, broke my heart. Vogt pulls all these compelling characters together in a truly satisfying happily-ever-after. Sigh.

Many thanks to Howard Books for providing a copy in exchange for my honest opinion. But I still ordered another copy to give to my friend because I marked up mine. That's how much I loved this book.
This was such a great read! I really enjoyed the spunky, smart and plain spoken heroine. The hero, Griffin (love that name!) was a hunky, sexy air force pilot (love a military man with a tattoo ;). Add in a troubled adolescent, and this book had many facets. There was also a side story of a couple adopting a young boy and the challenges the adoptive mother was having. This was a Christian book with sweet but not sappy romance. A few really good kisses, and a sigh worthy HEA. This book is well worth your time. I highly recommend especially if you like Susan May Warren, Rachel Hauck, and Karen Kingsbury. I am looking forward to reading her other books.
I loved the the banter between Kendall and Griffin. The meet in a rather unusual way and develop a friendship very reluctantly. The inclusion of Ian in the novel added depth to the story. I adored the ending.

It was great to have main characters in their 30s rather than 20s.
I loved Catch a Falling Star...except for the fact that once again, Beth Vogt kept me up past midnight. I couldn't put this heartwarming story down until I read the last page. And since I wasn't ready to leave the characters, I even read the discussion questions.

I loved the fact that Kendall and Griffin were in their mid-thirties, and that Kendall waited for God to bring the right man to her. The romance was delightful; the sparring between Kendall and Griffin was delightful to watch. And I loved Evie's story and the way Beth wove Ian into it and how the teenager helped Evie to understand what was going on with Javan. This was a very satisfying read. I had preordered Catch a Falling Star and will certainly be looking for the next Beth Vogt novel!
Although slow in the beginning, the storyline was good. The writing style was different than expected. Almost factual, with a side of fluff. The romance had potential, but felt a little rushed or forced.

Griffin Walker is a grounded Air Force pilot, who recently received custody of his adopted brother, Ian. Griffin has a lot of unleashed resentment - toward his ex-wife, the Air Force medical team, his parents for giving him custody of Ian - that he doesn't know what to do with.

Dr Kendal Haynes just happens to be attending her birthday celebration, when she notices a teenager having an allergic reaction ... She steps in to assist and runs up against his brother, Griffin. Griffin was unaware his brother, Ian, had any allergies. Feeling even more like a failure, Griffin feels lime he almost killed his brother.

God used vertigo to get Griffin's attention and help him focus on what's truly important. Kendal had past hurts to overcome, as well as a feeling she would never find her happily-ever-after. It was interesting seeing God bring these two people together.
Beth K. Vogt sure knew how to put heart into her characters in "Catch a Falling Star A Novel." Dr. Kendall Haynes, her leading character, enjoys lots of interesting things, one of which is working on her Jeep as a hobby. Kendall has three girlfriends who she hangs out with. Two are married, and her third friend, Rachel, shows up with an engagement ring. They are over thirty, and have a frank discussion asking if the are really starting their life only as they finally get married after having a career.
Other people in the book include Evie, her office manager in the medical clinic Kendall owns. Evie is pursing adoption of a foster child, but Javan is one angry 6 year old who was abandoned by his mother. The family has issues as the adoption day draws near. Another man, a Lieutenant Colonel pilot name Griffin, is on a desk assignment because he is suffering from vertigo, and fears he will never fly again.
All these problems are real life struggles that we watch unfold through this strong story. It is centered around Christian lifestyles and each has issues dealing with how God loves them.
I totally could identify with these struggles and loved the way Beth dealt with them. Gave her five stars.
