Darrienia The Forgotten Legacies Series Book 1 eBook KJ Simmill
Darrienia (The Forgotten Legacies Series Book 1) by K.J. Simmill is a wonderful fantasy novel I have read and K.J goes on describing her own pure imagination throughout this book impressing the reader's mind. It is so correct to mention here that the tale kept me in its captivity throughout my reading and I highly enjoyed this. The book is descriptive and easily understandable as well. The book itself is action and character driven, the heroes face great beasts as well as their own personal challenges that need to be overcome if they are to save Darrienia, and their own world, from the peril set into place by Night. The characters are forced to grown and change as their adventure progresses, forming bonds of friendship, but even friendship has its limits, especially when each of them harbours a secret, or hidden agenda. Through out the book K.J. surprised me and kept me guessing and yet I found controversy at the end I have to say that I did not see that coming. It took me by surprise and I was drawn away to an emotional stream which I enjoyed very much. A+ for this book.

Darrienia The Forgotten Legacies Series Book 1 eBook KJ Simmill Reviews
I’ve had my eye on Darrienia (The Forgotten Legacies Series Book 1) for a while and it was a great way to end my reviews for 2017! Read on for my thoughts!
Synopsis (from the author) It is said that the past always returns to haunt you. Yet some forgotten pasts have whispered names and a debt for collection. Dangerous curiosities stir a hidden darkness, one that patiently waits to seize control.
The subtle periphery between dream and reality is in peril and those chosen must face the evil behind this looming disaster. But lurking in the shadows, guiding their hand, lies the true threat and a hidden agenda.
Will they discover the truth in time? Or will those who should be heroes, become nothing more than the pawns of evil?
What I liked Darrienia had many things I like to find in fantasy novels. The world building was amazing, the characters well developed, and the book provided plenty of action, mystery and a grand quest. The intricate plot referenced Greek mythology and the quarrels among the gods, while it kept me guessing about what would happen next. All in all, an excellent fantasy!
What I didn’t like At times, Darrienia left me confused as to whether the characters were in the dream world or not. The length of the book also made it a tad difficult for me to keep up with everything that happened. Neither of these things detracted from my overall enjoyment of the novel.
Overall impression When you read this book, be prepared for an excellent though long read! The intricate plot, interesting characters, the intrigue surrounding Zo and Marise, and the quest make this a fantasy that I highly recommend!
My rating 5 Stars
I loved this book and I took my time reading it, absorbing its very essence. This book is over 700 pages and if you enjoy fantasy you will love this epic adventure filled with angst, mystery, suspense, and of course good versus evil. The book centres around a group of 5 characters on a quest. The author does a fantastic job of letting the reader get to know each of the characters, and at times I didn't like them, then grew to love them. The main character Zoella is written so well and her trials, tribulations, and personal demons are fantastic. Each character has their own story to tell and as this book weaves its magic you will be transported into the land of Darrienia and on the edge of your seat on so many occasions. This was not a predictable read at all and it never got boring. The story was well written and I found myself hoping it wouldn't end. I looked forward to going to bed every night so I could immerse myself in this fantasy land of magic and evil. The story can be read as standalone but I'm looking forward to jumping into book 2 to see what is next. If I could give more than 5 stars I would and this is definitely an author that I will be watching. A true storyteller who can weave a tale that will keep you gripped and engaged till the very end.
I am suggesting this novel as a must-read because
Simmill has written an epic length novel guaranteed to keep you reading for hours and hours. The characters flesh out quickly and the heroes begin their adventure without delay. On their adventure, only the eccentric Elly knows their true destination; at least, among their group. Or, is that too, untrue? Magical creatures, magical things and places, along with a healthy bit of mythology kept me entertained for days. Acha, Zo, Daniel, and Eiji find themselves rebuked at every turn by forces beyond their understanding. Along the way, the characters change and you get to watch their new personalities develop. However, some of our heroes might have a darker side. Is that true, or will the character morph again? Read the book to learn. Waiting to find out made me sad to put the book down when I needed to do other things.
I noticed something different about this book beyond some great plot twists. As the magic becomes more common in and around the travelers, intentions and outcomes morphed in a way I’ve never seen before. It is a clever device used well throughout much of the book. The way the author handles this, how she skillfully starts you onto the path of questioning new possibilities, is alone, worth the price of this book. The places our heroes venture to are described with the perfect amount of flesh. The author offered me a tasty bit of what things might look like in her descriptions, but ultimately, my imagination had the freedom to create the structures and places of my minds choosing. I often find this wiggle room lacking in other novels and they become disappointments. No such problem here. The ending is unique. Even though the book is part of a series there is no great hook; this book will stand alone. Before the ending came, I had already bought book two. I’m one step ahead of you; I already have the book you will want when you read, “The End.”
Darrienia is a suitable read for teens and adults of all ages. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
